Built in 1831, New College is the 4th oldest building on the campus of the University of Georgia. New College went through numerous previous renovations in the past that compromised its structural integrity. The restoration of New College included demolition of interior structure, structural stabilization and renovations to facilitate executive administration space for the University of Georgia.

The scope of the project also included excavating the existing crawl space into a basement area to house mechanical systems for the new renovation. While being a complete renovation of the existing structure, a great deal of effort was put in place to retain as much historic integrity as possible. As construction manager, Garbutt Construction Company provided complete pre-construction services including estimating, scheduling, phasing, and bid packaging. Construction-phase CM services included all construction management and self-performance of selective demolition and carpentry trades.
