Coming from a long line of small business owners, Garbutt Construction’s founder, Charles E. “Charlie” Garbutt knew early on he wanted to own his own business one day. Discovering an early passion and talent in design led him into pursuing an architectural career. Following his father’s advice to learn the tangible side of the business first, Charlie took summer jobs in construction where he came to love seeing and experiencing the proof of one’s labor. After a slight change in his career path and with a construction management degree in hand, Charlie moved to Alabama to work full-time with a general contractor. Charlie quickly excelled in the field and was promoted to project manager, overseeing and leading all field operations before moving back to Dublin with the groundwork laid to start his own company. And nearly 40 years ago, Garbutt Construction was established to become the well-respected, full-service commercial builder it is today. The firm operates out of a newly restored historic office in Downtown Dublin, Georgia with owners and architects relying on Garbutt for construction management, design build, and general contracting services. The company’s financial strength, stability, and staying power over several economic cycles positions them as a leader in the construction industry with the ability to attract and retain employees and long-lasting client relationships.
