Garbutt Construction Company was recognized this weekend at the Associated General Contractors of Georgia’s annual convention in Hilton Head, South Carolina, with two Build Georgia Awards. These awards are presented to general contractors who demonstrate outstanding project management through exceptional safety records, overcoming project challenges, innovation in construction techniques and materials, strategic scheduling, and dedication to customer care.

The highest honor of first place was awarded to the Marquee Club and Rooftop Lounge, completed in May 2018. This iconic renovation to Atlanta’s Fabulous Fox Theatre was the largest since the 1920s and created a stunning space that includes five bars and a rooftop terrace overlooking Peachtree Street. Project Director Sean Moxley, Superintendent Eldridge Harrell, and Project Engineer Michael Brent were in attendance to accept this award.

Garbutt Construction also won merit honors for their management of Southern Crescent Technical College’s new Industrial and Technology Building. The 83,000 sf facility is the second building on the college’s Henry County campus. It was designed to provide more space and academic opportunities, meeting the needs of this growing campus. The building houses programs focused on job training, including Automotive Technology including mechanic and collision, Environmental Technology, Nurse Aide, and Computer Information Systems Technology, to name a few. In Hilton Head to collect this award was Project Director Sean Moxley and Superintendent Tracy Lively.

Our team also received a Certificate of Safety Excellence for no lost time accidents on company job sites in 2018.
