Stallworth Biotechnology Addition
Because of experience in building higher education laboratories, Garbutt was selected as a qualified bidder for The Biotechnology Addition at Fort Valley State University. This new construction addition supplements the biotechnology department in the animal and plant and food research areas. The 8,000 sf addition consists of four laboratories and accompanying teaching space. The structure of this facility consists of steel and masonry. The exterior skin is composed of metal wall panels and brick, while interior walls are built with light gauge steel. The labs contains biosafety cabinets and specialty equipment. Strict coordination was adhered to between all subcontractors and suppliers ensuring that all lab components were built according to specifications so that the lab functions at the utmost level of efficiency. Garbutt Construction Company completed this project within the original schedule and budget constraints established.
