Macon Volunteer Armory
The delivery of this project was a collaboration of Garbutt Construction as construction manager and the architectural firm of Brittain, Thompson, Bray, Brown, Inc., Architects. Garbutt and BTBB worked as a team to develop a budget, value engineer the design, and met on a weekly basis to ensure the rebirth of a magnificent example of Victorian architecture.
Window restoration, plaster restoration, and extensive decorative painting were performed in restored areas with compatible adaptive renovation in other areas. Their efforts were rewarded by receiving a Georgia Trust award for Excellence in Rehabilitation, a Build Georgia award, and the building is now listed in the National Register of Historic Places as a contributing property in the Macon Historic District.
