Garbutt Supports Construction Industry’s Call for Regional Workforce Training

Dublin, Georgia – July 12, 2016 – In response to a call from industry partners and affiliated organizations, Oconee Fall Line Technical College (OFTC) will offer a training program and curriculum for construction workers who directly supervise personnel in a task-driven environment. This curriculum, entitled Supervisory Training Program (STP), is tailored to field leaders working for general and specialty trade contractors who oversee others in an environment where effective and efficient production is crucial. A key benefactor, Associated General Contractors of Georgia (AGC Georgia), is aligning with OFTC to offer this much needed curriculum to middle Georgia’s construction workforce. STP is developed by AGC Georgia’s parent organization, AGC of America. Recognizing this niched training need in their home of Dublin, Georgia, Garbutt Construction Company is a proud participate in this initiative and is sending many key employees to the training. Garbutt is both a local supporter of Oconee Fall Line Technical College and a long-standing member of AGC Georgia.

STP curriculum will be taught over the course of a year with weekly classes. Upon completion of the course, students receive a certificate of completion from OFTC and gain skill sets needed for working with people and problem solving in a timely and lean manner. The course is planned for the OFTC Dublin Campus at the Dubose Porter Center and features industry experts as instructors. Classes begin September 12, 2016.
