Effective construction projects require efficient time and resource management. Garbutt has developed the following processes to ensure that each project is carefully planned and tracked.

Preplanning: The project administrator, manager and superintendent meet to discuss labor, materials and workflow to form a consensus understanding of the project schedule.

Computerized job scheduling: The project manager regularly updates job site progress using software that the project administrator can access to report the current project status to the owner.

Job diary: A daily report of work performance is maintained for each project, indicating the date, weather conditions, work performed, contractor roster, special instructions, materials received and incidents such as delays, accidents or visitors.

Weekly jobsite meeting: Weekly project meetings usually include an owner representative, architect's representative, Garbutt’s project administrator and/or project manager and subcontractor supervisors. Meeting minutes are recorded and distributed to all parties to communicate work flow and coordination. Clients may access meeting minutes online.

Short interval schedule: Project superintendents schedule manpower requirements three weeks in advance. Schedules are submitted to the project manager each Friday to ensure that manpower is well coordinated in advance.

Materials administration: To control and coordinate the variety and quantity of materials required by construction projects, Garbutt Construction assigns one individual to be solely responsible for material orders, approvals, purchases and delivery/receipt on site. The process is documented on computer and ensures that work progress is never impeded due to material availability.

Accountability and communications: Garbutt Construction uses the Primavera Suretrak System—the best in project management software—to help with planning, scheduling, resource management and cost control. This system benefits owners and the design team by providing regular reports.
