What is now referred to as the old train depot was once a bustling transportation center of the Georgia capitol. As transportation trends changed and the capitol moved to Atlanta, over the years the depot fell into disrepair. With its structure and infrastructure all but unsalvageable, Garbutt Construction—along with architects Bradfield, Richards, Rhodes & Associates and the facilities staff at Georgia College and State University—undertook complete restoration of the depot.
Today, the restored depot is a unique state-of-the-art fitness and lifestyle center of Georgia College and State University, where students frequently travel to work out.
